What is this ingredient?
Yogurt is fermented milk. Specific bacterial cultures (Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophilus) convert milk sugars (lactose) into lactic acid. This makes the milk thicker, more sour and longer-lasting. We mean plain yogurt (or Greek yogurt), not the flavored and sugared varieties. Most 'fruit yogurt' in supermarkets contains as much sugar as soda.
